Archaeological Sciences at ISU

CAMAS, the Idaho Museum of Natural History, the Department of Archaeology, and the ISU Student Anthropology Society are proud to present the Archaeological Sciences at ISU Exhibition.  As part of the Idaho Archaeology Month professional archaeologists and the interested public are invited to an extensive review of the numerous high tech approaches to analyzing historic and prehistoric artifacts at ISU.  Join us at CAMAS for demonstrations of X-ray fluorescence, chemical analysis using LA-ICP-MS, electron microscopy, petrographic microscopy, stable isotope analysis using IR-MS, and the 3D imaging technology at the IVL.  Bring an artifact and we'll demonstrate the potential analyses we can do for you.  The departmental research will be on display along with demonstrations of ancient technologies and modern barbecue.  Dr. Maschner will be giving a tour of the Idaho Museum of Natural History at 2:00 and visitors will get an opportunity to see the inner workings of the museum, including the Swanson Repository.

This is a great opportunity for students to get connected with professional archaeologists from various organizations around the state, and a great chance to see the archaeological research at ISU and the technologies we employ.
